Plasma nitriding is a thermochemical diffusion process for surface hardening, which Siegmund has used as standard since 2009. It involves enriching the surface layer of a workpiece with nitrogen, forming a highly resistant wear and corrosion protection layer. The process takes place under vacuum at approximately 500°C, resulting in a virtually distortion-free end product. A particular advantage: It is an environmentally friendly technology, as it uses only the natural atmospheric components nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen. Furthermore, Siegmund relies entirely on electrical energy for its energy supply, forgoing fossil fuels.
