Bernd Siegmund GmbH is committed to making its website www.siegmund.com accessible to all users. The legal basis for this is the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG) and Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services.
2. Level of Accessibility Compliance
This website is partially accessible. It partially complies with the requirements of EN 301 549 in conjunction with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
3. Non-accessible Content
The following content and functions are currently not fully accessible:
1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A) Description: Content, relationships, and structure must be programmatically determinable or described in text (e.g., via semantically correct HTML). Not implemented because: Some components use visual layout techniques (e.g., "div" instead of "ul" for lists), which are not properly interpreted by screen readers. A revision is planned.
1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA) Description: Text must have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against the background. Not implemented because: Certain color combinations (e.g., in secondary buttons or informational text) do not yet meet the required contrast minimums. These areas are currently being revised in the design system.
1.4.10 Reflow (Level AA) Description: Content must be readable and operable without horizontal scrolling at a width of 320px. Not implemented because: Complex layouts (e.g., tables or embedded widgets) sometimes cause horizontal scrolling on smaller screens. A mobile-optimized version is in progress.
1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (Level AA) Description: User interface components such as buttons, form fields, or icons must have a contrast ratio of at least 3:1 against the background. Not implemented because: Some interactive elements (e.g., icons in the secondary navigation) currently have insufficient contrast. A design update is planned.
1.4.12 Text Spacing (Level AA) Description: Users must be able to adjust text presentation (e.g., line height 1.5, paragraph spacing 10px, letter spacing) without loss of content or functionality. Not implemented because: The base CSS uses fixed spacing, which leads to display issues with custom user settings. A switch to flexible units (e.g., rem, em) is planned.
2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (Level A) Description: Users should be able to skip repeated content such as navigation menus (e.g., via a “Skip to Content” link). Not implemented because: The current main navigation does not include a visible skip link. This will be added in a future update.
2.4.3 Focus Order (Level A) Description: The keyboard focus order must be logical and predictable. Not implemented because: In some dynamic areas (e.g., modal windows), focus is not handled correctly. The JavaScript logic is currently being revised.
2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (Level A) Description: The purpose of each link must be clear, even when taken out of context. Not implemented because: Some links use vague text such as “Click here.” A content revision is planned.
2.4.6 Headings and Labels (Level AA) Description: Headings and form labels must clearly describe the purpose or content. Not implemented because: Some form fields are insufficiently labeled (e.g., placeholder text instead of a
